Just got my 500gb 840 EVO. I've installed windows as well as my programs on it, then I formatted my hard drive and now use it for music, pictures, etc... I just copied my users folder from the SSD to the freshly formatted HDD, and right now I'm copying the files from my backup to it. Does this sound right to everyone? Will it cause any issues? I've heard that the appdata folder will default to the SSD and cause some problems. I know I can registry edit the profile to recognize the HDD profile as the default or something, but when I last logged into my computer doing I got a popup that said there was something wrong with the profile and put me on a temporary one.

Probably wont work if you copy whatever across Info will have to be in the registry as well. And copying from one hdd to the other wont do it.

Whatever youre copying if its for programs will probably fail

Yeah I went back and undid the regedit since I already had issues. I'm not restoring the programs from an image or anything either, just doing a fresh install and manually transferring my pictures & etc from an external to my HDD. I followed the advice to redirect the folders to my HDD (via the target option), but what about the appdata folder?

Leave AppData where Windows wants it.
