MSI G41-M P33 COMBO north bridge overheating

ok so my motherboard is a (MSI G41-M P33 Combo) and the north bridge is overheating when i game on it. it is temp 2 in speed fan if im right. all other temps are fine. im just wondering if removing this and putting thermal paste on it if it would solve this problem. thank you

just remember the old mantra- less is more with thermal paste.

or if you know how to lap the northbridge and heatsink, that might provide a better contact for heat dissipation.

lapping involves polishing the northbridge's heat spreader and the heatsink's surface to a mirror finish so they make better contact. there's risk of damage so if you don't know about it, I'd probably not do it. I don't lap any of my stuff- never had to.
