ok so my motherboard is a (MSI G41-M P33 Combo) and the north bridge is overheating when i game on it. it is temp 2 in speed fan if im right. all other temps are fine. im just wondering if removing this and putting thermal paste on it if it would solve this problem. thank you

Solution
lapping involves polishing the northbridge's heat spreader and the heatsink's surface to a mirror finish so they make better contact. there's risk of damage so if you don't know about it, I'd probably not do it. I don't lap any of my stuff- never had to.
