Hi,
I have a Pegatron IPISB-CH2. I'm planning on upgrading my graphics card to a gtx 780, but from what I understand, the Pegatron IPISB-CH2 is not compatible with it even though it has a pciex16 slot.

Besides the new gtx 780, I'll likely have the following components attached:

o An Intel Core i7 2600 CPU
o A blu ray burner
o A 1TB 7200 rpm, SATA 3G hard drive
o 4 x 4GB DDR3 PC3-10600

I don't know what's reasonable budget wise. I'd love to spend $100 or less, but I wouldn't mind a higher cost if it actually adds any reasonable benefits.

Why do you think the motherboard is not compatible with a GTX 780 PCIe x16 3.0 card?.. Nvidia cards are backwards compatible with all PCIe x16 slots. The incompatibility is limited to AMD PCIe x16 2.1 and 3.0 Video Cards with Intel motherboards with PCIe x16 1.1 slots and G41 and previous Chipsets... Your mobo has the H67 chipset so it should be compatible with the Nvidia GTX 780 PCIe x16 3.0 Video Card.

Hey Chicano,

Thanks for the response. I know that it's technically pcie compatible, but looking at other threads people seem to have problems with this specific motherboard and graphics card combination.

Thanks though.

According to this: (thread you linked)

The GTX 780 did work!.. If they don't work you never see a thing... the screen remains blank. The BIOS was prompting him to enter it and change some setting, but his keyboard did not work but that was a different issue, so it's likely the motherboard was already damaged. He never answered back to update the results so we don't know what the actual cause was.. but the card did work up to the necessary BIOS configuration.

My suggestion would be to buy the GTX 780 and try on your motherboard, and only after/and if you can't get it running, order the replacement motherboard.

Agreed. You lose nothing by doing this and possibly avoid needing to buy a new board since you were going to get the card anyhow.

hi,

i,ve got this motherboard too and try to find a graphic card compatible since my MSI 7850 crashed.
Unfortunately all new graphics card give a black screen ( RX, GTX 1060 ...).

I think's it's about no support BIOS LEGACY.
New card only support BIOS UEFI.

A will try a Sapphire R9 380 compatible with this 2 mode ....waitinq delivery .

16/11/2015: confirmation - R9 380 compatible (use switch to legacy bios compatibility)

Do a Google search for the Pegatron IPISB-CH2 motherboard. You should find, like I did, that it's known for not booting with any Geforce card past the 500 series.

I tried it with two brands of GTX 750 Ti cards before I did that Google search. It wouldn't boot with either of them.

The CPU type and the PCIE x16 slot are not the issue here - only the Pegatron IPISB-CH2 motherboard and the graphics card.

When a graphics card doesn't work, all you see is a blank display but the GTX 780 worked enough to display the motherboard logo.. So the GPU is working but not beyond a few seconds, just as when there is a BIOS issue... and coincidently the Pegatron HP IPISB-CH2 is said to need a BIOS update to support graphics cards above GTX 600 series. So, the issue here seems to be the BIOS version. The installed BIOS only supported the available graphics cards on the date of release. It's also said the CPU version is a likely cause as the chipset is compatible with the GTX 780 and newer cards... the problem is the motherboard is said to have been abandoned by HP by the date the GTX 780 was released, so essentially the card is not supported with the outdated BIOS.
