So in another thread my cpu was overheating and was told to install a new heatsink. Which of course worked and temps are lower, but not that much. I bought the heatsink and put my computer to a store to install it for me. Now it is installed, but the system fan isnt on. I noticed before when I was tampering with the thermal paste is that when the system fan wire is on the motherboard it stops working. Is this the case?

More about : installed heatsink system fan wont work

Hello... What temperature impovement did you see?
1) Make sure you Plugged correctly into your CPU FAN header on the MB... it needs all 4 of those wires properly connected to RUN.
2) Make sure there nothing obstructing the Fan blades from turning.
3) Did you smell any burning or bad odor after reconnecting the Fan to the MB?

I saw about a 10c difference on idle and gaming. Nothing is blocking the fans. No bad odor or burning smell. The cpu fan is running, but the system fan isn't

Hello... I'm sorry... Follow my proceedure for your System Fan then... Is it a three or 4 wire fan?

4) Check your BIOs for proper Fan settings PWM-AUTO etc.

10C is good improvement for Fan cooling... A Simple test if you need better Case cooling is to take a cover off your case.
