I am considering getting a 7.1 surround sound headset for gaming and I'm wondering if my computer will even be able to use the surround sound. I have no sound card but an Asus rog motherboard with what they call "SupremeFX IV" integrated sound. Will I be able to take full advantage of a 7.1 surround sound headset? Thanks in advance!

That's good onboard sound for sure. Most 7.1 headsets are targeted at gamers and don't have steep audio card requirements, you are in the green.

I do have to disagree on the 7.1 surround headsets. Most of them are overpriced. Some come with multiple speakers in each ear but the ones that do have to be closed back. You may get surround sound but it's only a cheap knockoff.

Every game can already emulate surround on 2.1 cans. My suggestion to you would be to either buy a speaker surround system or just get a good pair of 2.1 cans. You'll save money and they'll sound better.

Thank you! I was thinking the razer kraken(simulated) 7.1, the razer timiat 2.2, or the timiat 7.1 . Money is not much of an object. What would you reccomend?

Personally, I would recommend the G35 7.1

It's a set up from the razor in terms of quality. They have both wired and wireless.

or

Sennheiser PC 350 Special Edition High Performance Gaming Headset

From a very good headphone manufacturer, one of the best. It doesn't have fancy buttons but it does have very good sound and a very good mic. A no frills set I would say.
