hey guys, am trying to find a good semi modular psu for my build:
i5-4590 3.3GHz Quad-Core
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
ASRock Z97M Pro4 mATX
Kingston Fury 8GB
Samsung 840 EVO 120GB
WD Caviar Blue 1TB
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 4GB WINDFORCE
BitFenix Phenom M

I only have $50 left from my original budget but I can expend and extra $20 if needed. Am kind of in a rush, so I would really appreciate ASAP responses.
Oh ehh I made a mistake is not the Z97M Pro4 is the Z97M OC, which supports sli.

EDIT: Wow, never mind. I got beaten to the punch. Several times over. :p

Remember that the power supply is the absolute last place that you want to cheap out on - a cheap power supply is much more likely to fail, and much more likely to take your graphics card, motherboard, or cpu along with it when it does.

650W for more headroom and future upgradability (your system doesn't need 650)\

edit: That was a quick answer :p

Enough money for a tier 1 PSU that can support GTX970 SLI? This is a great option:

Almost any of the PSUs listed here would be perfectly good, very reliable options. I'm a fan of the XFX 550w - it's made by SeaSonic, is very well priced, and will give you more than enough power, within your budget.

I was just wanting to make a general point of warning that you shouldn't buy "cheap" power supplies without doing a lot of research into whether it's a power supply or a power supply shaped object.

Ohh I know how that goes. And even though they are made by seasonic I've had previous problems with them so am not all that excited about XFX. Even then the fact that it comes with all the cables on, makes it a little of a bad choice. I mean seriously I only have like an sq inch of space to put the cables!

If you want to avoid the brand, no worries. For about $65, I like SeaSonic's S12II 520w power supply, but it's also not modular. However, in a small form factor build, having a non-modular power supply can sometimes actually be a benefit, because it means you don't have to deal with nearly as much length out from the power supply before you can start the bend in the cables.

The Rosewill that Blackbird suggested is also a really good option, and Super Flower is one of the top three manufacturers.

Ok am lost. What do you mean by that?

I mean if you have a non modular cable coming directly out of the power supply, and you're trying to make a 90 degree turn so it doesn't hit something, the non-modular cable will be much shorter, because the modular cable has to come out of the front of the power supply by the distance of the power connector plus a little before it can even start to bend.

As for that last bit, I was just saying that the very first power supply suggested in this thread is probably the best option if you really want a modular PSU.

Hmm well that's true. At least in most cases. But thanks to how freakishly weird the phenom is that isn't such a problem. I rather have long cables but fewer, which is easier to manage is this particular case than to have to deal with all the cables from a non modular one.
And am almost sold with the Rosewill one.
