Just got and installed:
Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 3 mobo
Intel Core i5-4690k
2 8GB sticks of RAM

when I boot from the old drive I get sent into the infinite system repair loop. I understand that I need to reinstall Windows. However, when I insert my install disc and boot from the DVD drive, it still sends me into the infinite loop.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong, or not doing at all.....

Did you change the bootdisk to the DVD? And press a key?

I did in the BIOS, there wasn't an option to press a key...

It'll say press a key a few secs after it boots from the dvd. Well it should then it loads the setup screen

So, when I hit the power button and the Mobo screen pops up and gives me the "Press DEL for BIOS Setup" "Press of F12 for Boot Setup" etc... Do I need to go into BIOS and set my DVD drive as the first option? or just go into Boot Setup and select Boot from DVD?

So now i'm in the Windows setup... but it won't let me install Windows.

"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be instaled to GPT disks."

This is making it seem like i'm just perpetually hosed on this...

Update: was able to delete a partition, and now installing! Thanks Paul!

Well its because the hdd is bigger than 2.2 TB or something it needs to be formatted in GPT if UEFI is enabled in the BIOS
