I am helping someone get Free to air TV to a few rooms in their new house. the previous electrical engineer had wired a large 20+ port Ethernet switch to an Ethernet port in most rooms. But there are no Coaxial TV ports. only a few RG6 Coax cables running from the antenna next to the Ethernet switch.

so i need a converter to go from Coax to Ethernet, send and receive maybe so standard HDTV can pick up the signal.

More about : coaxial input ethernet put converter

Ethernet won't carry TV signal....unless you are watching IPTV (streaming video).

If you have network capable tv you may be better off putting in one or more DVR in the room that has the rg6 and the switch. There is no cost effective way to carry tv signal over ethernet...especially when you want to use the channel tuner built into the tv.

There are a couple of ways to utilize what he has here - first is an HTPC and extenders (XBOX 360), where the HTPC has the tuners and via ethernet you connect the XBOX 360s to the HTPC to watch TV.

Second is HDMI over ethernet (this is expensive), where you have a cable box that outputs via HDMI to a converter (HDMI > Ethernet) and then on the other side you have an converter (Ethernet > HDMI).
