Hi. I have an Asus P6T motherboard and I've been trying to upgrade the bios. It's about 5 or 6 years old and I've never updated it. I read I should update it before I upgrade cpu. I've been attempting to use the usb update and I'm failing I have been unable to find the most recent bios and get it on the flash drive... I have also been unable to get the ez update to recognize that the flash drive is there. Wondering if this is something I should just pay to have done ? The cpu swap seemed easy enough when I reviewed some videos. Not sure what I'm doing wrong with the bios update. Thanks in advance for all help.

Hello... What is the BIO's Version you have now? the last version is 1408 You can read it in your BIO's. https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P6T/HelpDesk_Download...
1) What procedure are you using to flash the BIO's?
2) Have you ever flashed a BIO's before?
3) Try formating your USB stick as Fat32 and copy that file to it... because it cannot read the NTFS file system when just Booting to your BIO's.
4) Try using a smaller USB stick in case of Readable size problem.
5) Make sure you are Not using a USB3 port... this requires a Windows driver to activate.

Hello... It fun to learn and do new things... Its really easy... and your Research is Correct, your first step should be flashing your MB BIO's . B )
Please continue converstion on the live page with me... AND remember there is no Stupid Questions, JUST Answers. B )
1) I need your current BIO's #'s in is in your BIOS main page or somewhere there. maybe you don't need the Update?.
2) You need to format a USB stick in Windows for FAT32 option... Right click the Drive Icon for the Format option.
3) The Bio's file I downloaded was not a ZIP file, it IS the single only file you need loaded on your USB stick... IF you have the BIO's updater APP/program in your BIO's. https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P6T/HelpDesk_Download...
4) If you have a Windows BIO's updater APP/Program it will work for that too.

Hey Iron.... well I formatted the flash to FAT32 no problem. Clicked on the Asus link you provided and it's the link I was looking at prior to questioning on TomsH.... It shows as a zip file and doesn't give me the option of saving to my Flash on the K: If I extract the zip it just shows me a read only 1 page document. Wondering if my current i7 940 (4 X 2.93ghz/8MB L3 cache is not as antiquated as I thought and there's no need for a CPU upgrade or bios... You would know way better than me. What do you think ? .. Very typical of me if something doesn't come easy to me I tend to look for an out lol... Let me know what you think... Thanks !
