Hey Guys I noticed today that under BIOS options HP doesn't have an AHCI option. They don't let you change modes at all. I have a HP Dv7t - 7300 Laptop. I bought a new SSD for performance gains but i was wondering will i get full use out of it. At first I was getting some really good speeds in both read and writing but it has slowed down to about 300 now. Does anyone know if I should just leave it as is or try to configure for best performance. Under device manager i only see a driver that says SATA RAID not AHCI. I attached pictures below. The old hard drive is still in the laptop but on the second SATA port now. The Samsung magician software also tells me AHCI is not active. Is this normal performance fluctuations for SSD's ?

Solution
If the bios has no AHCI choice for SATA mode, use the RAID choice. AHCI is a subset of RAID so your performance will be the same.

Unfortunately, Magician will not work in that case but you have no other choice if the bios lacks an AHCI selection.

Have you looked at the bios after enabling advanced bios options? Check your manual or HP for how to on your model.
