I am slightly confused over the naming, versions and performance parameters of the Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB
And the Western Digital Black 1TB.
Which one is the latest
What is the difference between 10002FAEX and Earx naming etc?
I need a good performing hard drive for gaming and operating heavy duty applications like photoshop and cad design.
So chose wd
But their naming convention is confusing
Can someone clear this doubt for me? Thanks
My config:: Corsair 8 gb ddr3, mobo P8Z68 V-pro ,AMD sapphire 6870 HD and a 7 yr old seagate 500 gb hard disk

Hi there Abhishek1025,

The WD Black, is a newer model than the WD Caviar Black. The WD Green, Red, Blue are also newer versions of the Caviar line.
The FZEX models are the most current ones.

Here you can see them: http://wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=760#Tab3 The ones below them are older models(still not Caviar).
You can check here the meaning of the model number: http://www.wdc.com/wdproducts/library/other/2579-001028...

Hope this clarifies the things a bit,
