Planing on getting a Nvidia GeForce GTX 980. Need clarifications!

Hello. Im looking to get a GTX 980 within the next week but I want to make sure if my system can handle it without bottleneck the processor or anything. Also, I may go SLI soon.
My current system specs are:

AsRock Z68 Extreme7 Gen3
i7 2700K @ 4.7Ghz
16GB DDR3
2X AMD Radeon HD 6970
PSU Corsair HX 850

GREAT!!! Thanks! My build is a bit old so I was a little worried about it.
I want to give Nvidia a try; With my CF Radeon HD6970 I cant really play games all max out @1920X1200. Games starts to lag and pause, not smooth at all. Hopefully a GTX 580 will do the trick!

I'm leaning towards Evga. I may go with the GTx 980 SC ACX 2.0 since the other models will take a bit more to release and I don't know how much will be.
