Hello I have a HP Pavilion 2.6Ghz AM2/Am2+ dual core, with 320GB 3gb/s sata2 HD, 4gb of ddr2 5400/6300 ram. I am planning a PSU, Video Card and Ram upgrade. PSU will probably be like 500-600W 40-50A on the 12V rail, GeForce GTX650 and 6gb maybe 8gb of ram. What do I need to do to my system in able to get the fast speeds of a SSD HD. Do I just install the new o/s onto the SSD, will this greatly improve startup times? Also what programs do I install on the SSD HD and which ones do I install on the 7200rpm 320GB sata2 HD?

Thanks for your help.

You should install your OS on the SSD to get fast boot times and general fast windows experience. What else you put on the SSD is up to you and the size of the SSD. Only programs on the SSD will load faster

Hi there matt3x4,

I would say that you will experience a considerable speed improvement in booting if you install you OS on a SSD rather than on a SATA 2 HDD. There are quite a lot benchmark tests and videos on the internet.
I would also suggest you(if you have enough storage space) to run the most demanding programs/games on the SSD. Again, you will experience shorter loading times.
