I have an FX 6300, gigabyte 990xa-ud3, XFX 550w bronze, 8GB RAM 1600
Which one would be better for games and general PC performance? Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 or WD black?
Thanks

Solution
Well the WD Black drives have the Vibration Control Technology (VCT) which helps the disk to endure and adapt to any mounting problems and system induced vibrations, resulting in increased data accuracy, performance and reliability over time. It also has a High Resolution Controller (HRC) with an improved architectural design, which increases data precision across the hard drive. The new generation of the WD Black drives also has a Corruption Protection Technology, which prevents and limits data loss caused due to power failure. You could also take a look at all the features on the website as well.

Edit: If you plan to OC, it's a good idea to get a CPU cooler.
Hey coconutoil. Generally for a gaming rig the most important components are the GPU and the CPU. A hard drive doesn't effect the graphics or fps for example. Both of drives are 7200RPM HDDs and are OK for gaming. The WD Black drive's main purpose is gaming and thus has some features which can enhance a bit your gaming experience and comes with a 5-years limited warranty, you could take a look at those features here: http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=760
But at the end of the day, it all comes to personal preference so you should pick the one that best suits you, because I think that both will do just fine for a gaming rig.

Hope that helps.

Boogieman_WD,
Thanks a lot for youre informative reply, so you don't think that I would gain any benefits from WD black? would it be better to use the money to get a CPU cooler instead of the crappy fx 6300 stock fan?

Actually I think that you would benefit from it, I meant that the advantages are not that obvious as the ones you get from a new GPU or a CPU. And about the cooler, if you are not looking to overclock the CPU, the stock cooler will do the job. So it's up to you which one you choose.

Could you be more specific, what would be the benefits?
Yes, I want to overclock my cpu, but if the money will be well spent on the black then I will get it and maybe get the cooler later.
thanks again :)
