Hey guys, I have been clocking my CPU and have maybe run into a CPU throttle. I have overclocking experience but have never experienced this before and want to know if this is indeed what could be described as a CPU throttle.

I would like to add my CPU was behaving this way at stock speeds with turbo turned on.

I have deactivated auto settings.

FX6300 clocked at 4.4ghz

Hopefully you can read these guys, but basically one states my CPU speed at 4.4ghz under load and then it flips to 2.9ghz under load?

I was told previously when I enquired about this happening at stock it was due to the power saving features, the power saving features are now off so that obviously isnt the case here.

if its downclocking WHILE you run Prime95, then there is something going on.

Check temps
FULL system specs? Especially power supply and motherbaord.

fx6300
corsair cx600 psu
78lmt mobo

monitored my temps... Here is a screenshot after 6-7 hours testing

I thought it may have been a power problem but my output never exceeds 420W

You missed the CPU temp in your screentshot. :)

How do you measure that power draw?

And wattage is not the only factor. :)

AAAAHHHhhhhhhhhh, I think I know the problem..... I measured using a plug in power meter.

This version of the Bios is lacking an APM option.

Even without APM, it should not be throttling, but then again, throttling is common on 760G chipset motherboards.

Defiantly my problem dude. I have just proven it using AMD overdrive (enable and disable turob trick) thanks for your input.

I know the board isn't ideal to OC on, I basically had it free with the fx6300 black edition so I couldn't say no.

cheers... Temps wise its looking fantastic, been running for 1hr 20 minutes max temp 51c on the core and 55c across the NB. I cannot imagine temps rising much more, just a case of another hour or two for stability

yeah those are good temps. And after 1 hours you have enough stability going.

further testing should be done in a more realistic scenario, like gaming.
