New computer freezes completely

Recently built myself a computer, which runs fine until some point at which the entire machine freezes and produces a buzzing sound. temperatures are all fine (below 40c) and the load can be as minimal as watching a video online. any reason why or any way to fix it?

the buzzing is coming through my earpiece, not from the machine, the only physical change to the machine is that sometimes the fans may increase in speed, but not all the time.

AMD FX series processor (not sure of exact one)
Gigabyte motherboard
Sapphire Radeon r9 280x graphics card
Raptor Corsair 16 Gb Ram cards
seagate 1Tb hard drive
Runs on windows 8 and has an added internet card and dvd/ blu-ray drive

Is it possible there is some kind of trigger for the freezing? Or does it seem completely random?

If you can find a trigger we can investigate this as a possible software issue;

If not it is likely a hardware/driver issue;

In case of the latter you could try some tests to try narrow down the problem:

I would start off by checking the hard drive with seatools:
http://www.seagate.com/support/downloads/item/seatools-win-master/

If it has no issues, you can check the memory with memtest:
http://www.memtest86.com/

I would start off by checking these components because they are relatively easy to fix (read: replace);

all the hardware is new and all drivers are up to date, and both of those tests passed. but there is no trigger, it just happens randomly when playing a game(usually within 1/2 an hour)

there are a couple of things to add. this mainly happens when using the internet, so could possibly be the network card (someone tell me if that's possible) and also each time i check the temperature when it's frozen (suing my hand) there is a small heat sync on the motherboard(presumably has something below it) that seems to be quite hot( I'd guess about 50-60'C) anyone know if any of these could be the cause
