So I just bought a tri x r9 280x to match my toxic edititon in crossfire. Both are clocked the same at stock toxic speed. But of course the r9 290 is now as cheap as the one I just bought and maxwell is out. Is it smart to try to get one of those somehow or am I fine the the config I have now for awhile?

Yep pretty good for now especially if you are on 1080P and should handle 4K OK.

okay i am on 1440p and it runs things pretty darn good. just erks me that all these powerful cards that would be sweet to have are getting so cheap and so fast.

Your dual card setup still competes with the best of the best high end cards so even a single 290 or GTX970 would not beat it.
