Hey guys first post this is about a new computer I want to build. I'm wanting to order the parts in the next day or two. I have mostly everything picked out. I'm looking for advice as to whether its a decent build, is there anything better in the price range, or something I overlooked.

Budget Range: 800 dollars. This doesn't include the monitor, keyboard, and mouse, or the operating system. Although if any of those fit in the budget that would be wonderful.

Usage: Gaming and Writing. Primarily strategy games such as Civilization 5, Brave New World, Crusader Kings. That sort of thing. Not too many fps's, No Crysis or Battefront.

Preferred website for parts: Newegg.com

Location: St. Louis, Mo

Parts Preference: Intel for better single core gaming, more important for strategy gaming.

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire: No

Parts:

CPU: I5-4690 Haswell

GPU: Geforce GTX 760

Power supply: Rosewill 630W

Case:

Ram: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB

SSD: Crucial 256GB SATA III SSD

Motherboard: ASUS B85m-G R2.0 LGA 1150 Intel

Other Thoughts: The Ram and Motherboard came in a package deal for 124.99, Although i'm not partial to either. The CPU and GPU of course take up more than half the price of the build. I'm really interested in whether anyone knows any better options, or if something I've picked out won't go well with the others. I don't have a case picked out sorry. I had one from the shellshocker deal yesterday but it expired as I wasn't sure about my final build. I'm interested in good opinions on that as well. Thank you for your time.

I'm more interested in a single 8G stick to make picking up a second one in a month or two a breeze. The board is something I'm worried about, as Mobos are probably the part I know least about when it comes to pcs.

As far as cpu goes, I've heard the 4690, and 4690K are exactly the same, stock. I've also heard that it is a barely noticeable difference in speed between say, an ivy bridge and a haswell. or even a sandy bridge. Are these true statements and could/should I save money with an older CPU?

4690 and 4690k are exactly the same stock. the 4690 is a haswell refresh cpu and thus may not be supported on that board. It is worth getting the newer cpus though. Haswell refresh chips run cooler. You are better of with a h97 motherboard, it has 4 ram slots instead of two and will support that cpu out of the box

I found this case and power supply combo. Looks like a good deal. add this and a different Motherboard and I think I've got it.

As far as the CPU debate goes, it looks like even a chip 2 or 3 years old is only a 10 dollar difference. It seems like I might as well get the new one.

And for the guy who mentions the 280x is the 50 dollar price difference really worth it in a price vs performance comparison?

Alright guys I've got a final build. The last part I'm asking for help on is this motherboard. Found a combo with the and an 8g rip jaw stick.

The reviews indicate it's a great gaming mobo, but the specs don't mention pci express 3.0.

So will the gtx 760 work in here? I saw a review where the guy mentioned using the 770 so I'm a little confused.
