Ok, I have a local brick shop selling off a few SAMSUNG 830 Series MZ-7PC128b (128gb) for around $119. Said it's been all tested and was used around 2 years old (office workstation).
New, it's $288 on newegg.

The 830 is thankfully MLC, not TLC, so should be a bit more durable. Also seems to be faster than most sub $100 SSDs.

Or should I just buy one New? Online there are quality SSDs going for$79-$100.

I guess it comes down to : used but faster vs New but slower.

Any advice opinions appreciated ^^.
thank you

yeah, can't do that now, but the guy did show me screen captures of disk tests he ran, and they showed up clean.
Of course there's a possibility he photoshop'ed those pics, but the the shop's got a pretty good reputation.

The Samsung 470 128GB SSD which is my OS drive is one I bought used off of a forum probably 18mo+ ago for $90. It's been stable since I've had it. As long as it tests out healthy I don't see why not.

I'm not sure I'd buy that model. This one is twice as large, just as fast (spec wise anyways.), still MLC, new/under warranty, etc.

Right now, the Samsung 840 and 850 128GB Pro's are cheaper off Newegg. Overall, not worth it since new ones run the same price. I've learned over the years when people sell hard drives, you can get a new one for the same or a few bucks more.

I would never buy or sell a used drive. I would go with a cheaper new drive even if slower since you will never notice.

thanks guys. Yeah, I was wary about buying used storage, especially used SSD. Guess NEW it'll be then ^^

As I've said, I've bought used before and it's turned out fine. Both HDDs and SSDs. Up to the buyer. But I don't see the point in buying a 128GB for $100 if you can get a similar 240GB for the same price.
