hey guys .. i was wondering do i need any upgrade if i want to play upcoming 2015 games or for next one or one and a half year on Ultra/tweaked ultra, (at least High) @ 1080p with my current rig:

i5-3470@60Ghz
HD 7870 XT 2GB
Gigabyte H61M-S2p
8 GB Ram
500w PSU

or should i wait for another 2 or 1 year?

You don't need to upgrade if you're playing at 1080p. My HD 7850 still runs games perfectly.

this ^ - I was running Sli GTX 460s and now run a single 460 and still my performance at 1080p is fine and 7870 is a much better card. I wouldn't waste money.

thanks guys, but do you think it can run 2015 games with a good performance at high-ultra settings?, games like Far cry 4, Dying Light, The Witcher 3 and Destiny, etc.. , i feel this games will be more demanding .. also i don't think that going to a GPU like GTX 980 is a waste of money at all.

Wait until your games no longer play as well as you like.
Graphics cards continually get better and cheaper, so waiting is best.
When you do upgrade, make it a big jump or you may be dissatisfied if you don't see a major boost.
Likely, that will be to a GTX970/980 class card.
If you want a stronger R9 card, be prepared to upgrade your psu past 500w.

I think your GPU will be fine for 2015, unless you absolutely have to have 60fps in every game. Even then, not even the best GPUs in the world will deliver that if the game's badly optimised.

do you think it will be worth it upgrading HD 7870 XT to GTX 970? .. i thought the only upgrade worth is going to GTX 980 or 780 TI only ..

Yeah a 970 is a huge upgrade.

double the frame rate in most games in these benchmarks:
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1034?vs=1355

But its relative, if you are happy with your current cards performance, then might not be money well spend - remember, there is always something better coming along 6-12 months away.

thank you for responding, but this GPU in the benchmark is the HD 7870 Ghz edition not the XT version .. i know there is no huge fps difference between both , but at least there is a noticeable difference ..The XT is more likely similar to R9 270x in performance, and a little behind the GTX 760.
i'm fine with my current gpu yes, getting around 35 FPS avg. in both games like crysis 3 and watch dogs
but i don't know..i wish i can get constant 55-60 FPS :D  i guess it will be a lot smoother.

Yeah they dont have a bench for the 7870 XT, but its minimal difference, compare the 970 to the 7950 (which is better than your card) and you can still see the huge performance difference.
