My suggestion, put two 120mm fans as front intake and one 120mm as exhaust.

I think side fans disrupt the airflow pattern,

It is easy enough to try different setups.

Side fans do in theory. However in every case I've had the side fans reduce GPU temps by a fair amount, without raising case / CPU temps.

I prefer more exhaust to intake.

For the OP, as mentioned try a couple different configurations. Every setup responds a little differently.

there are plenty of info on this.

if you have more exhaust power, you can slightly lower in case temps but at the cost of dust build up overtime from negative pressure in the case.

if you have more intake power temps may rise slightly, lower slightly in the area directly behind fan bringing cooler air coming in from outside(side panel/pcie lane), and positive case pressure which keeps dust from building up.

it should be more obvious that intake fans should be lower than your exhaust fans since heat rises.
