I want to overclock my AMD FX-6300 so it doesn't bottleneck my Nvidia gtx 970. Which water cooler do you recommend and how much will it overclock the 6300 to?

Some coolers I have seen:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Antec-Kuhler-650-Cooling-Temper...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-Series-All-In-One-Liqui...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Antec-Kuhler-950-Cooling-Radiat...

Don't really want to spend more than £50/£60

Thanks :)

At that price, AIO coolers aren't worth it. It's only when you go to £100 that you'll see greater benefits, but even then, the best air coolers (which are also cheaper) still perform very, very well. Also bear in mind that AIO coolers are noisy, and at the end of the day, they still use air.

If you're prepared to spend a little extra, the Noctua NH-D14 is arguably the best air cooler available. Sure, it's been replaced by the NH-D15, but don't expect many tangible gains.

None of them. Those are called AIOs(or LIQUID coolers), they are overpriced and underperform badly, they also are noisy.

This AIR COOLER is much better at 60Quid.

However what motherboard and chassis do you have, what RAM as well?

A lot depends on if you have a good 990FX motherboard with 8+2 phase power and nice beefy heatsink on your northbridge and vrm's. Or some crap earlier chipset board with a bolted on bios support for Vishera cpu's.

I have the Corsair SPEC-03 Case.
and my RAM is 2x 4GB Corsair Venegence Blue 1600MHz

So is the Noctua better than the Corsair H100i?

It isn't 990fx :/  But this is it: http://uk.msi.com/product/mb/970_GAMING.html

At very high overclocks, close to 5Ghz, the H100i will probably be the better performer. That said, in terms of value for money and the still excellent performance, the Noctua would get my vote.

Interesting, that is a new board I have not seen before. MSI 970 chipset boards are pretty bad normally, lets see what I can find about this one.

I don't think my motherboard could handle 5GHz because it is 970 :p
But I want to get it to at least 4GHz but I also want it to be nice and quiet.
At the moment I have the stock cooler and it is very loud when gaming.
Which one of these would be quieter?
In terms of appearance I really like the H100i, but if the Noctua is quieter and better value for money I would go for that one :D

That's reassuring xD
I saw a few reviews which said it was good, but apart from that I don't know
also it looks great ;)

Well Ill be damned, MSI released a decent MSI motherboard with the 970 chipset. Almost can not believe it.

Good VRM cooling.
6+2 power phasing.
Looks nice too.

Yeah, go ahead and get the NH-D14 or D15 if its not too much more, worth it.

4 GHz should not be an issue for the board or an even low end cooler like a Hyper 212 EVO.

Yay :)  So I didn't waste my money.
Thanks. I will probably go for the D14 I think.
Just to confirm, this is the right one?

Oh that's good :)  I will probably still go for the Noctua just because it will probably be quieter.

Thanks for all your help :D

Thankyou very much. :D  I was very close to buying the Antec watercooler. Very glad I asked here.
Also 1 more question (sorry) How easy is the Noctua to install?

Honestly, not very easy. :)  But if your chassis has a backpanel cutout its a lot easier.

:0 Oh okay. Yeah it does have a cutout. I guess i'll watch a video on YT for help on installation.
Does it have thermal paste pre-applied?

Good choice with the Noctua. I'm not sure about pre-applied thermal paste, but I'd suggest getting some MX-4 for a few quid anyway.

Yep it does come with thermal paste that is pretty good too. Although its not pre applied but in a sachet separately. Just apply a half pea sized amount to your cpu and while dastening the cooler the pressure will spread it evenly.

Thanks very much. It was Novuake and you who recommended the Noctua and saved me from buying the worse ones :bounce:
Thanks again
