Looking to switch to Nvidia

I am tired of AMD, always giving me problems with drivers and the overall quality of them has been sub par. I would like to know what the best card I could get for around $300 or less. I would also like to run more than one on my tower in the future. I have been confused because I see brand new 900s cheaper than 700s. Thanks in advance!

Solution
One 970 is enough to max most games at 60fps 1080p

On your current setup the A10-6800K will probably cause a bottleneck for a 970 but nothing too serious. Also I doubt a board holding that APU supports SLI.

I assume you will be getting an Intel build before pairing with another 970. An i5-4690K with the MSI Z97 Gaming 5 will be a powerful cost effective combo for when the time comes.

As for now I agree about avoiding the EVGA cards. Their 970's were reported to have misaligned heatsinks, although they probably have resolved it with later revisions. Get one from MSI/ASUS.

The 970 would be the best option. It is right around $330 - $350, but it will give you the best performance available for your money.

The 780 and 780 Ti are still priced higher than the 970 in most cases. They were priced higher to begin with, and since they went EoL, AIB's are trying to sell them without taking a loss.

I'd recommend the 970. It's a bit above your price range ~$350, but it's the best bang for the buck in the Nvidia realm. I've heard they are very overclockable, too.

If you have to keep it under $300, the prices in the 700 series are dropping and i've seen quite a few sales recently for the gtx 780.

I switched from AMD to Nvidia and have no complaints. Best of luck!

Also, what are your other system specs?

Could you point me to the best EVGA one (under $400)

By 'run more than one' you mean to have multiple cards in SLI?

To do that you will need a motherboard that supports SLI, as well as a PSU with enough power and PCIE connectors.

To make a better suggestion I'd like to know what PSU and monitor you have.

In general, a GTX 970 is probably the best investment because it is very powerful for the money, requires remarkably low power to achieve it, and has 4GB of VRAM beneficial for SLI and all the lazy console ports coming out nowadays.

If you absolutely can't breach the $300 limit, then the best you can get is a GTX 770 4GB

or a GTX 780 if you can find one at a sale discount.

I am willing to pay for the 970s, and I can support SLI and have 750 Watts

I would stay away from EVGA 970's. I can tell you after owning one that it is certainly not the best 970.

I recommend the MSI 970 Gaming or the Gigabyte G1. Both are great cards.

Go for the msi gtx 970 and you will definitely observe a performance impact in benchmarks

The Gigabyte supports SLI. It or the MSI are the card I recommend.

Yes, I meant that the mobo I was GOING to get would have SLI support. My bad. I also am going to get a new MOBO before my second GPU. I have decided to go for msi because most people say gigabyte is unreliable in the long run and the MSI one is smaller. THANK YOU ALL!
