Will there be a huge visible difference? From 2180 to 8400 ?
I am limited to 2gb of ram...

there will be about a 65% increase in performance so yea you will see a big difference in speed .. the pentium dual core e2180 way slower than the core 2 duo e8400 trust me ,, but dont be fooled the e2180 was considered a beast when overclocked ..

trust me even if you could oc i would recommend it because it just wears down you cpu faster making you have to think about buying a new sooner .. plus sometimes oc only gives you and extra 10% speed which really aint worth it at all .. i stay at stock speed and i have no problems at all ,, i suggest you do the same too unless you have money to constantly buy motherboards and cpu and stuff like that

Intel 945G has no support for CPU with 1333 MHz FSB such as Core 2 Duo E8400. I would take a look at the CPU Support list for your motherboard.

turns out the chipset supports 1066 and i taugh it was 1333mhz .. i totally over looked the fsb part ..and even when the e2180 is overclocked the e8400 is still a much better cpu .. sorry for the mistake earlier the cpu wont be supported because of chipset fsb limitations however you can opt for a e7500which will be about 10 to 13% slower than e8400 but will still be better than the e2180

E7500 is not supported by 82945g chipset ... see the intel ark site... Please don't suggest CPU if you don't have adequate knowledge.... max I can get is e6600... will there be much difference?

E7500 is not listed in compatible parts on the site.. highest c2d supported is E6700.
