When importing files (transfering from usb flash drive or external hdd usb 3.0 to pc) speed is around 100 mb/s. When writing files (from pc to usb flash drive) speed is limited around 17/20 mb/s. Why is that? (The speed problem is with my desktop, my laptop can write files at 100mb/s speed.)
I have front and rear usb 3.0 ports, it's the same problem with the 5 of them.

(Speed is the same from pictures, to movies, etc.) I checked bios, it is set at ahci.

(internal HDD is 7200 rpm.) Sata 1 tb
win 7 64 bits
intel 3770
8gb ram 1600 ddr3
asus z77

It'll be down to the limitations of your motherboard. Something newer will be able to take full advantage of the speed of USB 3

You could try updating BIOS and motherboard etc drivers

I admit the Lexar does the same speed on my laptop. Still my external HDD can write up to 95 mb/s on my laptop while on my desktop it is limited to 27 mb/s

What are your laptop and desktop, exactly...? There'll be a difference that accounts for the speed differential you're seeing

.... and how are you measuring speed? Try running Aja System Test (it's a free download) on the external drive when plugged into each of the computers

If the flash drive is only rated for 20mb you will not see greater write speeds, and comparing it to a different device only shows that you computer and the other device can work at a faster rate. I would be looking at the specifications of future flash or other devices before I buy them.
