Hello.
I've recently bought a 1TB samsung 840EVO SSD for storage. I already got a 250GB SSD for OS which has worked perfectly.
I have searched for answer on forums etc but I don't seem to find anything that suits my problems.

The problem is when I try to use the new SSD things begin to stop respond, everything goes slow etc.. dont really know how to explain tbh.

On Samsung magician it says:
- ACHI mode is ON
- Your SSD is connected to a SATA 6Gb/s (SATA 3) port and should show maximum performance

For example when I try to transfer files from my external harddrive to my OS SSD it goes smooth, but when I try to do it on my new Storage SSD it stops after a while and the computer runs slow and when I try to do different things after that everything stops responding.

I dont really know what to do or what to look for so I was really hoping for an answer to my problems from you pr0s:) . and could my SSD be defect?

Thanks in advance

See if your EVO has the latest microcode updates. I seem to recall a problem.

One theory:
A SSD is optimized for reading, not writing.
After some time, copying data, the ssd will run out of unused nand blocks and will have to do updates by reading and rewriting the nand blocks.

Samsung magician has a capability called rapid mode that can use ram to cache and buffer ssd operations.
See what happens if you activate rapid mode.

It is always possible to get a defective part, but I would not bet on that as the problem.

Thanks for fast answer. Tbh im very bad at this, so I dont really know what microcode update is. I did install a update tho, firmware update EXT0BB6Q.

I did try to activate rapid mode, but still it was really slow and still made things stop respond. Never had a problem like this so I have no clue what to do

could formating everything and reinstalling OS be a lame solution that could work?
