Hi Guys,

I built an i7 Haswell ATX PC about 5 months ago, haven't had any problems with it until recently, a couple of days ago the system just turned off randomly on idle on the Windows 8 Start Screen.
However the system managed to recover from this issue when powered back on, yesterday it did the same thing but managed to POST and was fine, until today, it won’t POST no beeps can be heard in spite of the two SATA HDD's, DVD-RW drive working and front intake and rear out take fans all working plugged using Molex connectors.
But both the GPU and CPU Fans don’t spin and no beeps are heard from the System Speaker. The system speaker is plugged in and in good condition because previous POST’s have given a single BEEP stating all OK.
I have not made any modifications to the system in the past 5 months, I have tried unplugging all devices apart from the GPU and CPU to see if there is a shorting somewhere.
Any ideas, I’m thinking either power supply or motherboard, what do you think?

I would test the PSU, it sounds like one of the lines failed in it. Do you have a spare PSU to test with?

Thanks for your input, yeah it seems my 3 and half year old PSU had failed, I ordered a new 1000 Watt Corsair PSU and it worked like a charm with my PC. I think it was underpowered and it was put under heavy pressure with gaming etc. Hopefully with 1000 Watts now I should not be able to overkill this one in a hurry.

Thanks again.
