I'm playing mostly battlefield 4 and I get this error from time to time

I used different versions of drivers and nothing helps.

I have an ATI HD 7950

Have you tried to lower your graphics settings for testing?

How about reinstalling DirectX?

Do you over clock the card?

You said you tried multiple drivers. When you installed the drivers are you completely removing the old driver, or just upgrading it?

what settings are you playing at? is it with mantle? it seems you are maxing out your cards vram.

I know on the same driver my 7970 runs great now with mantle but I cannot start the same in xfire with mantle since my screen starts scrolling every time. seems to ahve broken it for crossfire
*edit* sorry out of it today it clearly says directx.

still could be the same reason though try lowering the settings to see if it helps

for me tese new drivers have been a pain even cleanly installing this and he new beta, they would allways get a scrolling issue in bf4 even on direct x, screws up my afterburner OSD most of the time but i randomly started working fine on direct x. 14.6 seemed to have been a nice driver version for me.

Might want to provide more info so we can figure out whats wrong.

Like are you using DX or Mantle? Your gaming resolution and game detail settings.

Does it only occur in Battlefield 4? Does it occur when not playing any game at all?

Is your card overclocked? Are you running more than one card?

I haven't over-clocked the card, and my settings seem pretty balanced. This issue is kind of new, didn't have it before.

And yes, I've uninstalled the GPU drivers using DDU software each time.

I guess I could try reinstalling DirectX.

Also, I've noticed on occasions that my FPS start to drop. With these settings, they are usually over 100 (120 on average, depends on the map), and then they drop to about 50-60. Seems very weird.

Edit: I'm only running one card, and I haven't experienced this issue elsewhere.

CPU: Intel i5 3570k, not over-clocked.

This is weird, you're running out of vRAM from 4GB your GPU has, right?
How much System Memory (RAM) do you have? and HDD/SSD space?
D3D is not falling back to the swap pool when the vRAM gets depleted wich is even weirder.

This sounds like a driver issues to me. Back in 2010 i detected a bug in AMD drivers but for D3D9 that were spanning extra system memory even if running in pure hardware mode (D3DPOOL_DEFAULT).

Sorry i don't have a solution for this, lowering settings seems like a reasonable idea if you don't want to do a fresh install to clean driver garbage.

bf4 has been a nightmare with almost every driver from day one, crossfire at the beginning of the game for me easily pushes 100+ fps in most cases but mid way for me drops down to around 70-80 and my usage drops as well which is odd.

other games will max out my cards like metro etc

I seem to have resolved the directx issue for now. Repaired the game, reinstalled directx, and made a clean install of the latest GPU drivers.

However, I'm still getting the FPS drop. When I started the game after the system's been running for a while, I got about half my usual FPS. When I restarted the system, the FPS was fine.

Any ideas on this one?

Much appreciated.
