Hi.

I am getting a new Lenovo ThinkServer TS440 that has E3-1225 processor. I will be putting Corsair 16GB memory into it. ! will be adding a video card for it to output video and audio via HDMI to my TV.

I will be using it as a powerful workstation where mostly my usage is just watching HD videos (either in full screen or docked to 1 side of the screen) while having A LOT of other windows open with various MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc), Acrobat, Chrome (A LOT of tabs open simultaneously), etc.

Some questions:

1) Since I won't be using it for gaming, I think an entry level video card would suit my purpose correct?

2) In case I see a nice deal on a mid level video card (for example MSI R9 280) and I am willing to spend for it, Will having that better video card improve performance in video playback (and audio) of movies when it's outputted by HDMI to my tv?

3) How about when I have a lot of windows open with a video playing on the side, will it help improve performance during normal switching between windows, editing MS Office files, etc?

Thanks in advance.

1. Yes. It will be just fine.

2. No. The playback of audio/video should be the same.

3. No. It will be the same.

Exactly. If you're not gaming don't go off the deep end on a video card. Its not needed for videos. Something like a GT 740 or R7 250 is more than enough.
