I7 4790k
Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming GT
Corsair 900D (overkill but its pretty... don't judge)
8Gb kingston 2400Mhz Ram
Corsair 240gb Force3 SSD
WD Blue 1TB HDD
corsair AX860
Windows 7 pro 32bit :p
4x ThermalTake Luna LED Red Case Fans
The Nic C5 untouchable cool CPU cooler
GTX 980(adding 1 more in a month or 2)
GTX 750 physx

Hey guys soo hows my new build look. I'm getting her built next week, my first build.
And just before you say something about physx cards not being needed. I've seen noticeably more STABLE FPS with a physx card than with out, that all I want. I've been playing on med ranged laptops my whole life. time to break in hard with a all out build.

Oh and also the 750 is just there util i get the other 980 and enough money to build the 750 a low powered gaming rig to sit next to my consoles...
BTW please don't hate me for wanting to put a Ubber PC in the same room as a xbone.
Up until a year ago i was a well and true console fanboy theses days I don't give a third nipple if I'm playing on a $5000 PC or my old old old xbox (first xbox) as long as I'm having fun

ALSO well I'm in the topic of my new build can some one explain a PLX chip to me, I know what it does but not exactly what it is

and hey if you guys know of a good motherboard for the GTX 750 build when i do it please share

Joking about the 32bit OS

Don't have a chart with Phys-X, but here's one of the 780 Ti vs the 980. (980 is generally the better value). http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1351?vs=1072

Keep in mind the Phys-X won't do squat for the games that don't support it. You may want to put the $150 toward a nice mechanical keyboard and gaming mouse, better montor, etc..

That motherboard is a great choice. Gigabyte makes great mobo's, and tests them thoroughly before they leave the factory.

Avoid the Corsair Force SSD. Get a Samsung 840 EVO instead, or a Crucial MX100 series if you need to save more money.

Make sure your RAM is a dual-channel 2x4GB kit and not 1x8GB, to take advantage of the dual-channel tech.

Get windows 8.1. Eventually, you're going to be loosing Direct X support and the latest updates. You can disable the annoying features you don't like.

Otherwise, go for it.

Also, Corsair AX seems overpriced. How does it compare to the XFX 850W Pro Builder series?

PLX makes some of the PCI Express, USB, and Ethernet controllers in the mobo. What are you asking exactly?

Lastly, if you want to build a small Mini-ITX build for your entertainment center and 750 down the road...check out the Corsair 250D, the ASUS-Z97-mini, and the Pentium G3258.

I already have all the extra components.
1440p 60hz monitor
logitech headset
razer naga mmo gaming mouse
windows 8.1 yes, it was really expensive when i came up with this build but now they are the same prices.
and duel 4gb is a no go, I will be upgrading to 16gb 2x8 in the closing year.
and i mainly play physx games, and minecraft.
and because of where i live the 750 is $209 not $150... same with the 980 being around 890ish and the 780ti being around 1300

Holy cow, 980 is definitely the better value if it's that much cheaper there. Agreed, if Windows 7 was cheaper, or if this was 1 year ago, I'd say go for it, but now a days 8.1 is the same price, will support new versions of Direct X, and you can remove the annoying stuff that people hate about 8.

Yeah, that 2nd build should get the job done for a media server/streaming client, depending on what you want to do with it.

Again, you want dual-channel kits. so 2x2GB in this case. In either case, you're loosing out on almost double the memory bandwidth without it. Dual-channel kits are important, as even 2 sticks of memory with the same model number may differ enough to prevent dual-channel from functioning.
