So My Book Essential external hard-drive would not show up in Windows Explorer but it showed up in the BIOS and Windows Disk Management as uninitialized. It had about 2.7 TB of data on it.

So I took the drive out of the external casing and put it in my PC. I then initialized the disk to GPT and did a quick format because I thought the drive was dead - but it worked perfectly and the drive showed up. I haven't used the drive since. Now I want to recover my lost files that I had on there initially.

I found out that you need the chip that was attached to the external drive because the data is encrypted by the USB-SATA bridge firmware. So I re-installed the drive in its external casing and connected it to my PC via USB.

Again, it only shows in the BIOS and Windows Disk Management. The Disk Management again pops up with you must initialize the disk before you can access it. I want to use data recovery software but now no software detects my external hard-drive. How would I go about recovering my data or is my data lost forever?

The software simply doesn't list the drive. The drive is only displayed in Disk Management sadly with a popup to initialize.

AOMEI Partition Assistant listed the drive 0.00KB - I tried to rebuild MBR but to no avail.
