Hello All,

My brother is playing Aion online and I just gave him my GTX 660 since I upgraded to a 780. His system is about 4 years old (generally the MOBO, ram, connectors/cables). When he max the settings in Aion, it lags during movement. I would like some help in diagnosing this situation. Here are the specs:

MOBO: Gigabyte (about 4-5 years old)
CPU: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 940
GPU: Asus GTX 660
Memory: 4GB RAM (3.12 GB usable)
Current Resolution: 1280x1024, 60hz
Operating System: Windows 8 Pro
PSU: 850w

Here is the System Requirements for AION as of 2013: http://en.aion.gameforge.com/4-0/openbeta

Is it his RAM, some other bottleneck? Or another contributing factor all together? Thanks everyone!

That's not a very demanding game. It has low specs. http://gameguide.na.aiononline.com/aion/System+Specifications
The setup you have should be sufficient for max/near max settings, especially at that low resolution of 1280x1024. Does he have a lot of junk running at start up with Win? Check the tray for stuff he can disable or uninstall. Everything running in the background steals clock cycles and resources.

Also run CCleaner to get rid of a lot of resource wasting crap, software conflicts, and registry errors. https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download
