I have an lg 27mp75 ips monitor which is connected to my computer via hdmi. The monitor has built in speakers but the problem is my pc doesnt seem to detect the speakers. Headphones work just fine though. When i go to playback devices in my volume settings all i see is :
speakers
realtek digital output
realtek digital output(optical)
i have selected the option to see disabled and disconnected devices but thats all there is. Both of those realtek outputs dont seem to do anything. Whats the problem?

Does that monitor require a separate input jack for audio? If it has a speaker jack on it, the speakers may not be connected to the HDMI audio, and instead require a cable from your motherboard's audio ports.

I have tried to plug in my monitor to my MOBOs audio port but the exact same issue persisted

Did you go to Cont Pnl/Sound/Playback and reset the default device to the speakers when you had the jack plugged in?
