I have a 750Ti and this cpu is bottlenecking so I want to overclock it. Am I able to overclock my G3258 on my B85M-G R2? This is my first time overclocking. I heard I need to update the bios, the version right now is 0310. Also is it ok if I use the stock cpu fan.

According to the BIOS list for that board, there is no version 0310 listed. Is this your board? http://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/B85MG_R20/HelpDesk_...
You would need BIOS 2001 (Support Intel® Pentium® Anniversary Edition CPU (G3258)) if I have the correct board.

Tom's Hardware used the stock cooler for their testing. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/pentium-g3258-b81-c...
The dual core Haswell is so cool running, the stock cooler seemed to do the job. Myself, I'd opt for an aftermarket cooler.

The 0310 was just the bios version that came with it. I flashed BIOS 2008 on there already.
I just need to know from experience from anyone thats done it, whats a good stable overclock (i.e cpu core ratio, voltage).
I don't want to spend hours and hours testing for a stable overclock.

That's why I sent the Tom's Hdwr link.

Oh thank you, ok so 4.4 ghz at 1.275 V? They used a different motherboard, does it matter. So for cpu core ratio I should put 44 and sync both cores, and leave the voltage on auto or manual and leave it at 1.275V. Sorry I never overclocked before.

The only difference the MB will make is how much it will allow you to OC. But if they did it with the MSI board, you should be able to at least use the same settings with the slightly better Asus board.

I'd leave the voltage alone for now, and just take the multiplier up a click at a time testing for stability and watching temps between increase. When it becomes unstable, then maybe increase the vcore a bit to make it stable again. Repeat.
