Asus z97 pro system hangs for 5 mins on boot. Q-Code 64 (cpu dxe initialization)

Hi All,

My Asus z97 pro system hangs for 5 mins on boot. Q-Code 64 (cpu dxe initialization). After 5 minutes it will continue boot. Any idea what's causing this? Seems to have happened since I restored defaults in the 5 way optimisation, as it was cranking my cpu voltage higher than I was comfortable with.

I'll try these steps tonight and let you know the outcome. I'm sure my BIOS is newest as I run the EZupdate software asus supply and it did update a week or so ago when I first used the board.

Double check on the ASUS website manually. The EZupdate isn't the best method in the world and isn't always accurate. I've also heard of issues using it rather than updating manually with ezflash or flashback. Either way, just double check the version manually by going to the site for your model and comparing the most recent version against what's actually installed.

Hi current rev for Bios is 1304 and ez update does not always guarantee the latest Bios support for Devils Canyon was updated from Shipped .904 TXS was removed with the last update 1304 on all intel processors.

This issue oddly just seemed to cure itself. I did reset the bios and you're right, ezupdate didn't report the current bios version, so I updated manually. Unfortunately I don't know which step resolved the issue. Thank you for your help all!
