Ok I just got a question so the i5 5820k is limited to 28 lanes vs 40 lanes but I had some time to read around and it seems like some mobos have plx chips or whatever you call it. I just stumbled upon it while reading and if you have a mobo with it, it increases the lane count. Is that true ? If so then the 5820k is pretty badass for the price even if you wana run 4way sli with a mobo that has plx. Its just a question I might buy this cpu later on and the 28 lanes dont bother me as Ima run 1 gpu maybe 2 at most, depends how much i feel like spending. Im just wondering how these plx chips work.

PLX chips act like a dual gate so you can have your 16 channels on the CPU side of the chip and 32 channels on the other side for the PCIE graphics cards. The only problem is there is a bit of a delay with this. It is only really needed to go with three or four graphics cards on 1150 socket processors or four on the 2011 socket processors. For one or two graphics cards, even on a 1150 type processor, you don't need them.

Thanks guys, yea and i figured at most id run 2cards. The only reason i was wondering is cuz a 5820 is 300bucks vs 5830 which is around 500. Doesnt really make sense to pay extra to have 40 lanes. At least for me.
