Wtf? I installed corsair link 2 and it wanted to do firmware update. My cpu is now running at close to 90c in the bios.

Solution
those coolers are garbage. i had an h100i and hated it.

i installed an h80i for a friend and after the firmware update the fans wouldnt show up in the corsair link software and cpu ran hot also, i think the pump stoped working after the firmware update. return it, if they give you a hard time, yell around and get something else

2600k not even overclocked. Just effed up that this all started after the firmware update yesterday. I used to oc a bit but not anymore. Can't find my stock heatsink fan so I'm gonna try to get something basic and not water-cooled. Any suggestions on a hs/fan that easy to install?

I reset bios to defaults after the problem occurred and same issue. I noticed the h100i was no longer working because my system was choking under normal operation so I checked cpu temp in Windows and it was 90c+. I never touched anything in the bios before that. The only thing I did was install the Corsair Link software so that I could manage fan speeds. Problem is that the software automatically checks for firmware updates which I'd never done before and it detected that there was a newer firmware. I updated the firmware through the Corsair Link software and the h100i no longer cooled the cpu. The fans were still going strong at max speed but I think the firmware update broke the pump.. Not sure.

Anyway, since I don't overclock much and just use the turbo/overclock settings or whatever on the 2600k, I ended up juspt picking up the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO. Works perfect now and I'm yet to see a temp above 40c. Super quiet too. 35 bucks.. not too bad.

I was running the h100i for a year without a problem until I did the firmware update. :| Good going corsair. lol.. oh well I got a year out of it. I doubt I'd buy from them again though.
