Please help. Recently, the USB connection/disconnect sound (do do do) has randomly been going off on my computer. Sometimes it wont go off for 10 minutes, sometimes it goes off 3-5 times in ten seconds. I find that it goes off the most when I'm playing a game or with something cpu/graphic intensive. I've checked all my USB connections and everything is firmly plugged in. I've also kept the device manager open to see if I could spot the device that's disconnecting/connecting, but I have been unable to spot it. I've found a few threads here that say it could be a bad usb port or device. I'm trying to figure out if that's the case. Someone in another thread suggested tracking USB events using: Nirsoft's USBLogView. However, this does not work with Windows 8.1. For Windows 8.1, I've tried to use Microsoft Message Analyzer, but it is very technical and out of my league tech-wise. I know how to start a trace and group by USB, but dont know how to tell what's disconnecting/connecting or make sense of the data. Can anyone tell me how I might fix this problem? It is driving me insane! Or, how I can tell which USB port is malfunctioning, if this is in fact the problem! 1000 thank yous!
