looks fine to me.

No need to buy a Full Tower unless you like having a really large computer case. If you like it, fine, but consider downsizing to an ATX Mid Tower form factor.

That PSU is actually one of the few really good CoolerMaster PSU's, you can probably get a similar quality for less $$ though

I would like to add it's better to get a 2x4GB RAM kit so it would work in dual channel than having the 1x8GB in single channel.

In a Mid Tower, yes, you have plenty of room to fit a standard amount of computer components.

A Full Tower is pretty big, and will have lots of extra space for expansion or custom watercooling loops, none of which you seem to be looking for. In your circumstance, I think it would not be most beneficial for you to get a Full Tower.

yes. RAM is small, the only thing you have to worry about with RAM and sizing is the clearance for your cooler. Since you only are getting 2 sticks (if not 1) then you should have no problems with RAM clearance.

so i should get two of the 2x4?

Yes, when your motherboard arrives check what the manual says about which slots to put the RAM in for dual channel.

The manual says to put one in slot A2 and one in slot B2

You will barely tell the difference between 1600MHz and 1866MHz. If you do editing, at least 2133MHz is my recommendation.

RAM for gaming:

2x4GB a is probably the best choice for now. I recommend Corsair, G.Skill or Vengeance. But there is no difference with brands, mainly a personal preference with colour (but as long they have the same clock speed, CAS, etc).

what should the clock speed and cas be?

You can pick the best solution. But this is totally up to you if any of us has solved your problem.

It will also be helpful to post the final or latest build you have modified so we can analyse it again.

Oh about that... Nothing to worry about. I was trying to say that Brand A (the popular one) will have the same specifications as Brand B (the not popular one). But they will perform almost identical with each other.

The difference could be manufacturer warranty, personally taste, colour theme, etc.

Are you able to fork out a bit more for an SSD? A small 60GB will be able to install the OS only and you will achieve a faster boot time. But my recommendation is Samsung 840EVO 120GB.

it says in my compatibility notes that some AMD 970 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Vishera CPUs. and that The NZXT Phantom 410 (Red) ATX Mid Tower Case supports video cards up to 305mm long, but video cards over 230mm may block drive bays. Since the MSI Radeon R9 280 3GB TWIN FROZR Video Card is 268mm long, some drive bays may not be usable.

I guess you used PCPartPicker. So just post the link and I will edit from there.

I usually skip the BIOS update. But if you don't want to update, then get a 990 or 990FX chipset.

I also plan on getting the Phantom 410. And don't be worried, you can easily remove the bays to fit long graphics card.

Most motherboards ship with the latest BIOS already on and I've not heard of anyone having an issue with your combination of CPU and motherboard.

The GPU length will only be an issue if you want lots of HDD, all you need to so is take out the upper HDD cage and there will be room

Read this to see a Tom's build using that case http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/mana-136-midgard-ii...

Of course not. I meant add a second storage drive, which is the SSD.

October 10, 2014 5:44:29 PM

Yes, this is a great SSD. You can have your OS, all your programs and even a couple of games which you play most often on it.

Edit: Sorry I didn't realize you were asking if the size was enough as for having it as only drive in the PC.

Most people would buy a SSD for their operating system and maybe a few programs/games and have a hard drive (which is much cheaper per GB) as a second drive where they keep teh rest of their stuff. 1-2TB Hard drive should be more than enough.

Yeah you will want the 120gb SSD PLUS a larger hard drive. 1tb is a good size for a storage drive
