Here is my current build:

CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K

Motherboard: ASRock Z68 Extreme 3 Gen 3

GPU: EVGA Geforce GTX 680

RAM:G.Skill Ripjaws F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL (2x4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

Storage: SAMSUNG HD501LJ(Main boot drive)
WDC WD7500AAKS-00RBA0
Hitachi HDS722020ALA330(Main Storage drive)

PSU: Corsair HX750 80+ Gold
(I mainly use this machine for gaming)
So I'm interested in upgrading my GPU to a Geforce GTX 970, and I was wondering if my current hardware will be able to support this upgrade. Will I need to do a motherboard/cpu upgrade before hand? Or will I just be able to upgrade the GPU right away.

Any answers are greatly appreciated and feel free to let me know if something isn't clear.

You will be fine. No bottlenecks. Just overclock the CPU too. Do you have a CPU cooler?

Sorry about the seemingly unfinished post. I accidentally clicked publish a bit too early. I am currently running a stock cooler, however I plan to purchase a better one along with the 970.

You may want an aftermarket cooler to overclock it if you lack perfromance. But I believe you will be fine without overclocking. And the GTX 970 is great, but not the EVGA ones. Either Asus or MSI is the best currently.

Wow, talk about a coincidence, I almost have the same setup and was also thinking about upgrading to a GTX970.

My 2500k is overclocked to 3.4Ghz though already, and I have 2*8 gb of Corsair Ram DD3-1600

So I guess I am alright too?
