I know this sounds quite obvious (go with the laptop) But I'm having a lot of trouble Diciding. There is the new asus g751 and g771 laptops, and other new laptops with the 980m and 970m. The 970m has similar bench marks as the 780. Is the 970m capable of playing bf4 on ultra at 1440p? Or should I get build a 1000 dollar desktop ( http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2326950/time-building-1000-dollars-budget.html ), I have a 1400 to 1500 dollar budget for a laptop. Thanks, oh I'm a student btw.

Ask yourself, will you use your laptop elsewhere other than home?
Is it for work as well as gaming?

If you living away from home, can you leave your stuff over the holidays? If not, I would go laptop unless you want to carry a desktop and a monitor around.

Depends. Will you be doing any gaming whatsoever? If so> desktop right away. The parts on a laptop are very close together and rely on one single fan for cooling, and that is just not a pretty picture for higher end games. Beyond that, it is just realizing that you pay about 150 bucks more in a laptop for the sake of portability, so it is truly a personal choice- more power for less cost plus stationary, or less power (or more cost for the same) and be able to take it places.

Well the laptop has the same performance as a 780 which literally a few weeks ago was pretty top of the lone
