I am currently using a Arris TM822G (modem) and Linksys WRT54GL (router), which is giving me tons of issues, the language will refuse to change back to English no matter what I try, port forwarding doesn't work properly if at all, and the interface is a bit dated compared to my Netgear CG3000D, I want to use my CG3000D as my dedicated router in place of the Linksys one, but I am wondering if this is possible or practical, or even just use it as both the modem and router, I tried right now and when I switched the cable over to the CG3000D, i was not getting signal, does anyone know a fix for this, or any possible solutions?

The Arris TM822G is a standard 8X4 cable modem/router used by many cable companies. Your Netgear Cg3000d Cable Modem/ Router has the same basic capabilities as compared to the modem EXCEPT for the voice (phone service). You would need to call your cable company to get the Netgear modem provisioned to work properly.

That modem (the Arris) is a cable modem. It converts the coax to RJ45. That is needed to feed the Linksys. You would also need that if you get your phone via the internet. The Netgear is a cable modem and router combined. But it does not have the phone ports that the Arris has.

So, if the Netgear is supported by your cable company AND you don't need the phone ports on the Arris, I believe you could get rid of the Arris, and just use the Netgear.

Well damn. Okay then, does anyone have a solution as to how and change the language for the router, and get port forwarding to work? What could be the issue?
