or

R9 290
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

or

spend 50 more dollars for gtx 970?

I am going to game a lot for i5 4690k cpu.

I do not really have psu issues,
if I go with r9 280 CR, I will buy 750w or 850w psu.

Other with be enough for 550w.

I have a 7990 and crossfire is still not perfect. So, I would go with the 970 it's a cold blooded beast. It will be about the same as 2 280s as well. Maxwell is tearing it up.

If you want 1080p gaming then no need for more than a 290. Skip Crossfire. No need. A 290 will more than max out games. If you are going to get a 1440p monitor then I'd say 970, otherwise 290. (Just make sure your mobo supports 2560x1440, sadly mine doesn't)

I would go with the 970. Extra performance, extra VRAM, lower power and heat. I see it as being a long lasting card. Any option will do great at 1080p but the higher up in res you go the more the 970 will shine

So, everyone has different options...

Which one should I pick?

I am a little bit confused.

Not sure where you're from but in the UK I can get a GTX 970 for £20 more than an R9 290, I know which one I'd choose for the sake of £20 lol.

I put the gtx 970, but it is 50 dollars more expensive than other 2 options. Are you guys sure of that?

Also, nobody like CR r9 280? Do them suck?

unless you already have one of a card, nobody will advise xfire, always go with the best single gpu you can

Saying that. the R9 290 is still an absolute beast and will have DirectX 12 support but I'd personally go for the GTX 970 all day even for $50 more and after my experience with Crossfire, I would rule out the R9 280's; the cards aren't bad at all, just you'll only end up using a single card the majority of the time.

So, either gtx 970 for 50 more dollars or go with r9 290?

It depends on what you use the GPU for. As mentioned, for 1080p gaming the 290 is even overkill unless you have a 120/144Hz monitor. Why spend more $ on the GPU?

Maybe he wants a couple more months out of it?

If price matters then I'd suggest getting what you need and some, not way more than you need. Even at 2560x1440 the 290 can still max out BF4. So, at 1920x1080 it is plenty!!!!

Another game, another example of how at 1080 the 290 is already overkill:

So, I want to have a gpu and it will be best if it is as cheap as possible.

However, I am going to game a lot in 1080p high settings.
But, I do not play many high usage gpu games.

which one should I choose?
Will single r9 280 be enough?

Yes a single R9 280 is enough for high to ultra settings in most games at 1080p.

Agreed. If you don't' need to max out games then a 280 is plenty.
