The cable that goes from the modem, into the router. In which ethernet port of the router is it plugged in?
There should be 5 ethernet ports, 4 are for whatever else your connecting, and the other one is to receive data from the modem.

screenshot of the connection would be nice would be nice :S

also i know the cables are good because they work from the modem itself to the computer. i just cant get the router to work. could it be possible that the router is just bad?

In which port of the modem is connected the cable that goes to WAN on the router?

Edit:
Why I'm asking is, that some ZHONE modems have more ethernet ports, same color, and you can mix them up when reconnecting and trying all bunch of stuff.
If it's only one port, and you're sure that the cable is working, then it could be the WAN port on the router that is faulty. What ZHONE model is it?

6519-A2 is the model number. i have it on the #1 port. only ports 1 & 2 can be used for internet 3 & 4 are used for tv if you get there package. and remember the cables do work because they work from the modem to the computer but when i add the dlink router it wont connect. i just didnt know if i was doing something wrong or if the router has just gone bad.
