Hi. Apologies if this isn't the correct place. Suddenly in the past few days my GPU temp under load has shot up drastically. About half of the time I launch FIFA it goes to 80c within seconds and every other game it sits around 70-80c and after a while on that my PC just restarts itself without warning. the idle temps are fine ( 40c roughly) and i'm still getting the same FPS in game so I'm wondering if it is some sort of power issue?

I built the PC 6 months ago and I have cleaned it a little bit so I don't think dust is the problem. I have the newest Nvidia drivers and I also rolled back the drivers to see if that was the problem but it still persists.

my GPU is MSI GTX 760 and PSU is EVGA supernova 650w

Thanks!

Appears to be with normal Range of Temp
Google gtx 760 temperature comparison and check out a few charts
Have you monitored your GPU temp for a long time? or just Recently when restarts started?

Sudden Restart... hmm A GFX overheating usually exhibits other issues - Freezing, Locking up, App Crash, Artifacts, And Restarts

Could Likely be something else causing Sudden Restarts.

I assume since you know temp you have some kind of monitoring software. does it also monitor fan speed? That's what I'd check first, even actually making sure fan is spinning with hand [move finger up very slowly, so you don't get cut]. I have had a few v-cards go, and almost always fan failure, and may even give false reading that it is spinning. I am on on fan #3 for my current video card.
Is it only that game?
any details will help.
but always check your fan first.
Another time I had my GPU overheat and shutdown, a small power cord got in fan, stopping it.
Always check the fan first :)

I cant solve your question but your idle temps are not fine. My gtx 760 ideles at 28 degrees with the nvidia stock blower cooler.

I did see that those temps are ok but it's still a lot ,lot more than I usually get and that increased over one night. I can understand hitting high 70s on Battlefield ultra but it's happens literally seconds after I launch FIFA and doesn't go down whether i'm in the menus or in game. It just stays at 80c until the PC eventually restarts itself. The only time the restarts happen is when i'm gaming.

@pmarceau . I've been using MSI Afterburner and I think that does but even just using my ears I can tell that in game it is faster/louder than usual. Like it's suddenly having to work double when just a few days ago it was perfectly fine.( I actually cut myself on the CPU fan earlier   ) FIFA is the main one I have problems with but I also have noticed a big temp increase in other games such as Battlefield and CoD, eventual restarts too.

My gtx 760 also runs at 80 degrees under load thats normal. Try stress testing the gpu using furmark. http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/fur/ If it crashed its cpu or psu problem. Run for 1.5hrs in last 20min check for artifacts.

Thanks Pakonater. I will try it out but is it safe to use that long?

Its safe I used that program to stress test my gtx 760 so it was not faulty.
I did it just after I installed the drivers and it worked fine.

Here is what SpeedFan and MSI Afterburner were saying after a couple of minutes of playing FIFA

As you can see the GPU temp is 2x the CPU temp. FIFA seems to be maxing out my card when before it was just easy.

FIFA 15. I got it on release day and it has been perfectly fine until a couple of days ago. It even happens in the menus, the intro etc etc . And it's not just FIFA it happens in. It hits max temp , max power use/load and then after a while ,PC restarts.

Use a diffferent gpu and see what happens. Try to use your gpu in another machine if its the gpu it should be under warranty.
