I have run into problems with my R9 280X. It seems that when I have the GPU installed and when I boot into Windows 8 it is fine but once I start opening programs or just moving the mouse around I get a blue screen or a white screen or a green screen.

When I uninstall the R9 280X and take it out of my PC I can boot into Windows 8 as normal and I have no problems. It seems as if it's a hardware problem with the GPU but it could be a software problem with Windows 8.

I have also tried running AMD Catalyzed with the R9 280X installed but the PC gets a blue screen before I can do anything.

I have looked for solutions to this problem on the internet and I have only found one viable reason as to why this is happening. It could be that I do not have enough power to power the GPU although I have a 650 Watt Gold PSU to power it so I really don't think it has something to with the PSU.

My System Specs:
i5 4690k
R9 280X
Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 7 Mobo
8GB of RAM at 1866Mhz
EVGA NEX Super Nova 650 Watt Gold PSU

Did you connect the 6/8 pin PCIE connectors to your graphics card? Tried running it off another PCIE slot?

Your 650W PSU should have no problem running a single card.

I had the 8 and 6 pins connected but I did not try different vga ports. Would it really make a difference? I can do it but it is just a hassle as cable management in the NZXT H440 isn't very good.
