I've got an aging system that I'd rather not change until the next windows release. So I thought I might just upgrade my palit gtx 670 jetstream to a 970 jetstream.

I assumed that as the reviews are all saying about power savings that my current psu would be sufficient as the 970 uses less than what I now use.

I remember asking for a better PSU when my system was being built and the guy said it wasn't necessary but if I wanted to waste money he'd take it... I upgraded (I think) to an XFX PRO750w core edition (I think the original was a corsair CX600 but may have been a 500)

The rest of my system is an Asus P8z77 v lx
i5 3570k set at stock
8GB kingston 1600Mhz ram

Thanks I read somewhere about 12v rails and someones PSU having enough watts but not being powerful enough so I was starting to add up possible costs of changing my card.... If I had to change PSU as well I might wait until I get a new system.

I only ever play at 1080p so as yet I've not found a need for SLI plus all problems I read seem to be SLI related :)

I always thought with SLI you only access the vram on 1 card.... if that is right why can we not buy cards to SLI without any vram or cards with slots so we can add more vram ?

Thanks for all the info prit87 I'm already looking for a Palit 970 now :)

I'm not interested in performance only quality. I don't want to end up one of those people who get no enjoyment out of a game because they spend more time watching their FPS highs and lows and tinkering with settings.
I'm hoping DSR will give me the added quality.
