Okay first up the specs for my new desktop: Manufacturer : AWD-IT
Processor: AMD FX-4350 Quad-core processor 4.20 ghz
Ram: 8gb
64 bit operating type Windows 7
Using Asus PCE-N10 11n Wireless LAN PCI-E card
Microsoft virtual Wifi miniport adapter
Realtek PCIe GBE family Controller
Motherboard: M5A 78L-M usb3,

My router :
Bt homehub 5 type A, on bt infinity connection.

My Wifi is very good with every other device in the house, but on my desktop using wifi webpages load slowly as does youtube. connected to my router via ethernet cable my computer speed tests at 56mbps download speed, whilst on wifi it tests at a mere 1mbps. I have already tried to move my computer directly next to my router, the wifi signal strength is only 60%, my old laptop has a strong signal from the other side of the house and also tests at 56mbps on wifi. I have also tried an isolation test (turned off microwaves, wireless phones ect) but the signal does not change at all...
please help and ask if you need any more info.

There are alot of possible things. I suggest first trying a diffrent wireless card. If this fixes the problem, your current wifi reciver may be of low quality or dieing.
