Hey i always used 32 bits versions of windows now & in the past but i would like to use win7 64bits Ultimate since new games start to require 64bits versions to run.

I tryed everything i know but nothing seems to help and i'm growing tyred to try :'(

My Specs:

MB: Asus M2N SLI-Deluxe
Proc: AMD Athlon 64 x 2 Dual Core 4800+
RAM: 4GB
Gr. Card: Asus GeForce 630 GT 2GB DDR3
HDD: Maxtor 160GB + Some Reserve Maxtors of 160Gb in case i got to clean install.
euhm i have the old ones with large cable and those with red cable.
mainly i still use the old ones and works fine with Win7 U 32bits.

Other HDD: Got 1 Red Cable Maxtor 160GB but seems not to work to install OS on it.
i can install games and such on it but other then that no OS :(

EXT HDD:
- Seagate Expansion 1 TB
- Seagate Expansion 2 TB
PSU: 550 WATT
Optical Drive: 1 old crappy DVD RW Drive from NEC (large cable 1st Slave) (for some reason i can't burn discs with it no mather what OS i use but i can read discs with it but not all of them)
USB PORTS: 4 x 2.0 on motherboard (1 broken)
USB PORTS Front Panel: 2 x 2.0 (also got a no power USB HUB with 4 Ports on 1 of them)
USB Flash Drives:
- 8 GB SanDisc Cruser (i think 2.0)
- 32 GB Intuix 3.0
- 64 GB Intuix 3.0
KeyBoard:Cable Medion 3 Collors[/color] For Games
Mouse: Wireless Trust (simple mouse lol)
OS:
- on my not connected now HDD 160 GB Maxtor i got XP Pro 32 Bits.
i don't use XP verry offen anymore since most games now requires at least Win 7 to run.
- now connected HDD 160 GB Maxtor i got Win 7 Ultimate 32 Bits.

My Problems:

Now i run Win7 U 32 Bits,
i try to do clean install with USB Flash since Optical Drive don't work,
i tryed with USB Flash Drive 2.0 & 3.0 since i have read somewhere that when you install Win7 64b
your bios can read USB 3.0 untill it actualy whant to install & does not recognize USB 3.0.
I don't think that this is the problem but i am not sure.

When i boot from USB:
Everything loads up like it should till the select Keyboard menu right before you click INSTALL.
When i select Uprgrade install, it says : no Installation found or something on C , on D to ...
( C & D = Main HDD With Large Cable Partitioned in 2) ==> C = 80 Gb & D = 80 Gb.
On C it should find Win 7 ???
On D it's normal since the drive is Formated.

When i try Clean Install and select 1 of all my listed HDD drives it says on all of them that there is no System files found or something.

i see those drives:

HDD 0 = P1 =C 80 Gb & P2 = D 80 Gb
HDD 1 = EXT HDD 1 TB i don't wanna use since its EXT & for storage
HDD 2 = EXT HDD 2 TB i don't wanna use since its EXT & for storage

When i click the Advanced disk i am only able to:
- Erase
- Format
- Load Drivers

Not Able to:
- Create
- Merge
- Extend
- Split

Im not sure what i did wrong but i never had trouble to install any OS in 32 Bits.

To further test & try to install i disconected large cable HDD & putted a Formated & Partitioned Red Cable HDD in my pc (same like above C = P1 = 80 Gb & D = P2 = 80 Gb).

Since i't is completely formated i don't need the Upgrade option so i tryed Clean install.

At First i my HDD didn't showed up to select it to install.

I did a few Bios changes, if i remember correctly i made it Detect RAID
and first i made it read on SPRITE, i reapeated install procedure and then it showed the HDD 0 Both Partitions, i tryed on both C & D but it won't install.

I did changed the RAID again in MIRROR but same again.

Result :

When i eiter try to install on Large or Red cable HDD, when it's about to install it says something like:

Windows is unable to install because it is missing some Critical Drivers. each time over & over again.

i tryed to load USB drivers 2.0 & 3.0 (Intel ones & the other ones (don't remember the name), changed motherboard ASUS drivers, and all i could possibly found on various treads i i have read and nothing works at all even the SOLVED ones.

I don't know if i'm dumb or what but i've been busy now for a day or 3 without luck.

Is it possible my MB or Proc doesn't support 64 Bits OS ? i doubt it but ... idk

Maybe its something wrong with HDD ?

Or the way its connected ?

I realy don't know what to do anymore.

i even tryed different ISO's i found on the net just to try if nothing is wrong with the one i got but all give the exact same errors.

I don't understand, it should be easy to do at least i think it's pretty easy & never had trouble to do such things before

Somebody got same probs with same MB & Proc. ?

Thanks for reading and i hope to get a solution this time ;)

A couple of questions:

Are you using the Microsoft USB Tool and instructions to make the USB installer?

Are you loading a RAID driver at the F6 point in the install since you have that enabled in the bios and appear to be attempting an installation to an array?

I would disconnect ALL hard drives except that one that you want as the OS drive, change the bios to either IDE or AHCI, select custom install, first step delete all existing partitions on the target drive (if you have an issue with that as the first step use the command prompt on the installer disk and diskpart with a clean command to completely unpartition the drive), then install to that drive. Then attach the other drives.

i did use the Microsoft USB Tool but everytime it ended with an eror like:
the files are on the drive but unable to make it bootable or something like that.

No big deal i used Rufus instead and i know Rufus works well since i did it in the past to install Win7 U 32b With USB.

i'm not sure i'm following with the "load a RAID driver at the F6 point"

all the keys i can use during boot is:
DEL to enter bios
F8 or F9 to select Boot Priority
F4 i think for recovery options
F6 don't work at all (not when i boot PC and not when win Setup loads)

i can only load drivers when i'm about to install, right before you have to select the disk where you want to install on, where i have the option to select & manage the disks.
thats the only time i can load drivers.

i'm also not realy sure whats the difference to instal to array but yes it seems i'm doing so since it's the only way to detect my Red Cable HDD, at leasts when i use this HDD, now i switched back to my old HDD with large cable, so i don't think this option mathers anymore?

as for my BIOS it's set on IDE now, i didn't tryed AHCI yet, maybe i should try it first and see if it maybe works that way.

What i would want is keep my old large cable HDD with win7 32 bits on it, just like i got my seperate HDD with XP on it, just take them out of the PC, put that that Formated Red Cable HDD in it since it should work faster, install Win7 Ultimate 64 Bits on it.

Why, because in case the HDD should crash or something, i got my 2 seperate HDD left to put in (1 with XP & 1 with Win7 32 bits) so i can at least use my computer if i realy need it but don't have the time to do a clean install with a new HDD.

i know it sounds a bit odd lol but i can't miss my computer even for 1 day since i use it for everything (work , TV , watching movies , games , and most important to comunicate with people i know)

i could also try to disconnect the other drives, didn't try yet, altough i never had to do it to install windows in the past.

i also could try the cmd prompt & maybe i could manage everything with it instead of having limited options in the windows setup menu.

i'm also wondering since i'm not using my optical drive, should i disconnect him to?
it's using 1st Slave (large cable).

i checked the RAM on both XP & win7, bios tells 4GB installed & OS tells 4 GB installed & 3.25 GB useable.

Seems like x64 is a strange lil beast to handle :p

F6 works during the Windows install process -- like 4 or 5 minutes after the beginning and will only give you a short time to load the driver. After that if you needed to load a driver (like for RAID) you are out of luck and must do a fresh install as the drive cannot be recognized for an install without that driver. The only time it is needed now is for such a thing. In the old days, early versions of Windows pretty much needed an F6 driver install off a floppy -- that was a pre-USB time.

oh ok i see well if i can get it to install then i'll keep it in mind.
for now i will try once more with complete formated and unpartitioned HDD & AHCI and see what it does, if that don't work, i'll wait a few hours till i get the DVD i requested from a friend and try to install trough DVD instead of USB, maybe that will help idk.

Anyway, when you you look at my MB & Proc.,
MB: Asus M2N SLI-Deluxe
Proc: AMD Athlon 64 x 2 Dual Core 4800+

it means it support x64 right?

Ok i finaly found the problem lol
i'm running Win7 x64 now btw :D

HDD with Red Cable has a jumper on it but not like old HDD, i got 2 settings to put on:
- SATA 1 = 5 Gb / sec. Partial
- Blank

It was set on Blank so i putted it on the SATA 5 Gb / sec.

In Bios :

i could choose between :

- IDE
- RAID
- HDCI

i've taken HDCI.

Saved Changes in BIOS & Exit.

When i rebooted, i pressed F10, to Use the RAID Detect Option and Configure it.

First i removed the ARRAY i created in Mirror,
then i recreated an ARRAY in STRIPE, Cleaned Disk, Saved Option and ReBooted.

Boot from USB, everything loaded untill i had to choose to install either Upgrade or Clean Install.

I choosed Clean Install but i still had the same error like before:

"windows was unable to create a system partition or locate an existing Partition ... blablabla ... lol"

i pushed on back button and used Recovery tools, Used the Command prompt to Format Disk from there without any partitions, then i tryed to install again but same error again.

Then my brain started to realise that maybe i should jump on my other computer and search for other RAID Drivers, so i did, seaeched for ASUS RAID Drivers x64, i putted them on my USB with the Windows instalation on it, then i putted my USB back on my "Dumb Computer" lol, at that point my windows install screen was still open, i clicked on "load drivers" , selected the ASUS RAID Driver, once loaded, i clicked "install" again and ...
YEEEEEESSSSS !!!

It started to install Win7 x64 !!! :D

It took like 3 to 4 min. to completely install and reboot. :p

So i'll keep this in mind for the next time.
Follow These Steps:

- Make USB bootable Drive with Win x64 on it
( i used RUFUS instead of Microsoft USB Tool)
- Add the right RAID x64 Drivers on your instalation USB with Win 7 on it.
(For me Asus RAID x64 Drivers)
- Check Jumper on Red Cable HDD, put on SATA 5 Gb/s.
- Disconnect any External HDD & Optical Drive if you don't use it.
- ARRAY = STRIPE then Clean, Set on Boot & Save.
- BIOS = HDCI then Save & Exit
- Boot from USB
- Format HDD and Create only 1 main Primary Partition (the whole HDD) with Command Prompt.
- Select Clean Install (Not Upgrade)
- Select HDD you want to install on (but don't click "Continue/Next" yet)
- First click on "Load Drivers", Select ASUS RAID x64 Driver & Load it.
- Now you can click on "Continue/Next" and watch the installation progress.

Hope this helped for Asus users & thanks to all of you for the advice given. :)
