Dear Members,
In addition to my up to date laptop, I have an old system running for my children. It has an Asus A8N-E motherboard with a Gforce 7800 GT videocard and 4 sticks of corsair CMX512-3200c2 memory.

It was all working fine until recently. We moved appartments and after setting up the system it gave a long beep followed by two short beeps.
According to the AWARD bios tabel this would mean there is a problem with the video connection.
However, the videocard spins up and when just installing one or two RAM sticks it gives the same beeps. Also clearing CMOS doesn't help...

What could it be? And more importantly, can i still fix it?
Thanks in advance!

The move may have unseated the video card. Turn off the rig, disconnect from ac, press power button to discharge psu caps, remove and reinstall card, power up and see if that helps.

Try it with just one stick of ram.

i have a total of 4 sticks of ram. I tried putting in one stick, but it didn't do anything with all 4 sticks (so tried all 4 sticks, by just placing 1 at a time)... also trying them 2 at a time doesn't change anything in the amount and timing of the beeps.

Well, kinda sounds like your video card died during the move. Do you have a "spare" card of any type you can swap in?

Markwp!
I found the problem by taking apart the whole damn computer... during the move the CPU got disconnected... now it's fixed!!
Tanks for your input!
